Pre-Fit Assessment
We start by talking about your ride history, injuries, flexibility, current pains, mobility limitations, and cycling goals. What do you want to improve—speed, endurance, comfort, posture?

Real-Time Data Collection
With the Retül Vantage (or similar high‐end motion capture system), we record your pedaling dynamics in real time. The system captures joint angles, knee tracking, torso angle, foot stability, etc. This gives us objective, measurable data.

Adjustments & Customization
Based on that data and your feedback, we tune your bike’s setup—saddle height and setback, cleat positioning, handlebar reach and drop, stem length/angle, stack, spacing, and more. If needed, suggest aftermarket components (e.g. footbeds, saddle adjustments) to match your body and your goals.

Ride Simulation
We test your updated position with you on your bike—possibly simulate riding motion, or ride you through some intervals while monitoring comfort and function. This ensures changes feel good and perform well. Changes are fine‐tuned.

Education & Follow-up
After the fit, James explains what was changed, why, how you can maintain good posture and bike form, and how to adjust if things feel off later. There may be follow-ups to tweak things further.

What is Retül Bike Fit?
At Oceanside Bike Fit, we use the gold standard in performance cycling fit technology—Retül Bike Fit. It’s not just about adjusting your bike; it’s a transformative fitting session that’s data‐driven, scientifically grounded, and personalized to you. The Retül system uses 3D motion capture, real‐time data from each pedal stroke, and biomechanics insights to precisely measure every millimeter and degree in your riding motion.
You’ll learn the root causes of aches or discomfort, understand how your body moves, and discover how a proper fit can help you ride more comfortably, more powerfully, and for longer distances—whether you're riding road bikes, gravel, mountain, or triathlon machines.
Here’s how to make the most of your session, and what you should bring/what happens:
-
Bring your bike (with the components you most often use: pedals, shoes, cleats).
-
Wear tight‐fitting cycling clothes (shorts or bibs, jersey), so motion capture sensors or markers can be placed accurately.
-
Bring any gear or body parts that are giving you trouble (knee pain, numbness, etc.), so James can examine them in the assessment.
-
The fitting will typically last : 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours depending on your anatomy, bike type, and whether major changes are needed.
-
After all adjustments are made, there’ll be verification and optional fine‐tuning.
