How Does Our Custom Insole Process Work?

  • Foot & shoe assessment: We’ll examine your cycling shoes, your cleat setup, your foot shape, arch height and any history of discomfort.

  • On-the-spot moulding / scanning: Using foot scanning or foam moulding, we capture your exact foot shape and key metrics (arch, heel cup depth, metatarsal pad positions).

  • Insole fabrication & fitting: We craft the insole from performance materials tailored for cycling shoes (often thin, stiff, low-volume), then install and fine-tune in your shoe.

  • Cleat + pedalling check: We evaluate cleat position, shoe fit and your initial pedal strokes to confirm alignment, comfort and stability.

  • Break-in & review: We'll give you advice on breaking in and follow up to ensure your feet adapt and rides improve.

  • Long-term support: You’ll receive a fit-report with your measurements, recommended replacement interval, and care instructions.

Tailored to your foot & ride

We analyze your foot shape, arch height, alignment (pronation/supination), and cycling shoe fit. Every insole is uniquely designed for your biomechanics, ensuring support where it matters most.

Part of your full bike‑fit ecosystem

The insole doesn’t work in isolation—it’s integrated with your cleat position, saddle height, handlebar reach, and overall (and) riding posture. A proper insole enhances the value of your entire setup.

Feel the difference right away

Riders often report fewer hotspots, less fore‑foot fatigue, and stronger, more stable pedal strokes. Proper insole alignment reduces subtle foot and knee instability that can cost you performance.

Custom Insoles Made On the Spot in Oceanside, CA

Why Your Feet Matter More Than You Think

Your ride starts at your feet. Every pedal stroke is powered by the connection your foot makes through your shoe to the pedal. Poor foot support, misalignment, or unstable footing inside the shoe can lead to lost power, fatigue, discomfort—and even injury. According to cycling-specific research, well-designed insoles can reduce peak plantar pressures, improve foot-to-pedal contact area, and help alleviate issues like “hot foot,” numbness, and joint strain.

At Oceanside Bike Fit, we believe that the right insole is a foundational part of your overall bike fit, especially for gravel, road, mountain, and triathlon riders alike.

When Should You Consider Custom Cycling Insoles?

You should consider them if you:

  • Experience foot pain, numbness, hotspots, or burning sensations while riding.

  • Notice your foot shifting side to side inside your cycling shoe, or feel your knees wobble during the pedal stroke.

  • Have flat feet, high arches, leg-length difference, or recurring knee/foot/ankle pain.

  • Ride long distances, multi-hour gravel loops, or high-volume weeks where small inefficiencies become significant.

  • Recently had a bike fit and want to fine-tune your interface with the pedal and shoe.
Even if you don’t have pain but you’re looking to optimise performance or lifespan of your bike setup—they’re an upgrade worth considering.
